For Veterans & Their Families
They served. Nobody wrote the story down.
Sixteen million Americans served in World War II. By the VA’s own projection, the number still living is in the tens of thousands. Korea and Vietnam are next. Most of those stories live in one person’s memory, and every year there’s less of it left. This is what we do about it.

What It Is
A hardcover book of their life, in their own words.
One of our biographers sits down with the veteran. In their home, in a veterans home, or by video. They talk about what they want to talk about: where they grew up, who they served with, what they came home to, the people, the funny parts. We record it, write it in their voice, design it with their photographs, and print it as a hardcover book. Three rounds of revisions. Nothing prints until they and the family sign off.
What it ain’t: a form. A questionnaire. A government website. A journal they have to fill in themselves. And nobody has to talk about combat. It’s their story, their call.
How It Goes
Three steps. The family does almost nothing.
The call15 minutes, free
One of our founders calls you. You tell us about them. We tell you the veterans rate and what happens next.
The conversationsWith one of our biographers
Two to three unhurried sittings, recorded, at their pace. A conversation, not a questionnaire. We ask the small questions that bring the big ones back.
The bookTheirs to keep
We write it in their voice, set it with their photographs, and print it. The family reads every word before it goes to print.
Special Rate
The veterans rate
Two to three conversations with one of our biographers, and one hardcover book. We’ll walk you through the rate on a free call.
For veterans of any era, and for anyone in assisted living, board-and-care, skilled nursing, home health or hospice.
Why Now
Every year, fewer people are left who can tell it.
A veteran’s story usually lives in one place: their memory. The friends who were there are gone or going. The kids heard pieces. The grandkids heard nothing. Most families mean to ask. Then one day, they can’t.
Their service is worth more than anything you could put on a shelf. We charge for the book. The story, nobody can replace.
“We waited pretty much the whole day, not knowing that his leave hadn’t been approved for that date and wouldn’t be coming home.”
Roger, in his memoir, on waiting with his father for his brother, home on leave from the Coast Guard. The kind of day a book keeps.

A free group session for your members or residents.
We introduce ourselves and walk the room through questions like where they met, the street they grew up on, their best friend at sixteen. Thirty minutes to an hour, and it costs you nothing. Anyone who wants to go further can have their own book at the veterans rate. How the session works →
Questions Families Ask
Straight answers.
Does he have to talk about the war?
No. He talks about what he wants to talk about. Many veterans spend most of their book on the people, the places and what came after. Nothing prints without his say-so.
What if his memory is spotty?
That’s normal, and it’s why a biographer asks the small questions: the street, the first job, the friend’s name. The family can add what he can’t. Nothing is invented.
Is there a veterans rate?
Yes. A special rate for veterans of any era, and for anyone in senior care. We walk you through it on the free call. There’s no price on this page because the book is sized to the person.
Can you come to him?
Yes. In person or by video: his home, a veterans home, or a screen anywhere in the country.
